Privacy Policy
The Journal of Molecular Parasitology and Microbiology is committed to handling personal information responsibly. This policy explains what we collect from authors, reviewers, and visitors to this site, why we collect it, and how it is used and protected.
Information We Collect
When you create an author account, we collect the name, email address, institutional affiliation, and country you provide during registration. These details identify you as a corresponding author and allow the editorial office to contact you about your work.
When you submit a manuscript, we collect the manuscript file and any supplementary files you upload, together with the title, abstract, keywords, research category, co-author names and affiliations, cover letter, and any conflict-of-interest declaration you supply.
When you contact the editorial office by email or through our WhatsApp submission route, we retain the contact details and message content you send so that we can respond and maintain a record of the correspondence.
Our servers record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested. This information is used for security monitoring and to produce aggregate readership statistics; it is not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide to operate the editorial process: acknowledging submissions, assigning and corresponding with peer reviewers, communicating editorial decisions, requesting revisions, and preparing accepted manuscripts for publication.
We use your email address to send transactional messages about your own submissions. We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing communications from third parties.
Aggregate, non-identifying statistics about article views and downloads may be published as part of the journal's reporting on its reach and impact.
Peer Review and Confidentiality
Manuscripts under consideration are treated as confidential documents. They are shared only with editors, assigned reviewers, and staff involved in the editorial process, all of whom are expected to keep the content and the identity of the authors confidential.
Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors unless a reviewer explicitly consents. Reviewer reports and internal editorial notes are retained as part of the submission record.
Sharing With Service Providers
We rely on third-party infrastructure providers for authentication, database hosting, and file storage. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Once an article is accepted and published, the author names, affiliations, abstract, and full text become part of the public scholarly record and may be indexed by search engines and bibliographic databases.
We may disclose information where required to do so by law, or where disclosure is necessary to investigate suspected research misconduct in accordance with our publication ethics policy.
Data Retention
Submission records, including rejected and withdrawn manuscripts, are retained for as long as necessary to document the editorial history of the journal and to address any subsequent questions of authorship, priority, or research integrity.
Account information is retained while your account remains active. You may request closure of your account at any time, subject to the retention of submission records described above.
Your Rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, or request deletion of information that we are not required to retain. Requests should be sent to the editorial office and will be answered within a reasonable period.
Where you have consented to a particular use of your information, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. Material changes will be announced on this page, and the revised policy takes effect on the date it is posted.
